This was my third pregnancy at King Edward Memorial Hospital. We have loved having our care through the community midwifery program and this time was no different. I was taken care of by Paula (primary midwife) and Emma from the MGP 4/5 group. From the moment we met Paula, our minds were at ease that not only did we have a midwife that was professional and knowledgeable but Paula genuinely took time to care and understand what’s important to us. We felt safe and taken care of through the whole process. The couple of times we had interactions with Emma, we felt the exact same.
During my second trimester I dealt with an episode of antenatal depression and anxiety. Paula’s care and guidance through this period of my life not only had me prepped with the tools and help I needed to get through it but also gave me a foundation of confidence and strength to focus on the rest of the pregnancy and birth ahead. That confidence was a complete game changer for the rest of the pregnancy and who I was for myself and family.
Paula also was incredibly helpful and informative with assisting us in our decision to have a VBAC or C Section. This was a choice we were grappling with from the beginning and that I had the experience of being empowered to choose powerfully with all the information I needed.
I don’t know if words are ever going to justify and create how grateful our family is for Paula and Emma but the impact the loving, positive care they had on our journey welcoming our third baby will never be forgotten.
From the phone calls not only from me but, as I understand it, the other women in their care, to the day our son was born and we had Paula right there, thank you so much! We will forever be recommending and sharing about our experience with Paula and the CMP. Superwoman!
