While visiting the waterfall near Margaret River, I broke my ankle when jumping from one rock to another. From when I arrived at the Margaret River Hospital Emergency Department until my departure, I was fortunate to experience a highly efficient, professional and friendly team. The receptionist was warm and welcoming and the triage nurses knowledgeable and supportive.
At all times I was kept informed about what was happening. For example the Xray machine was out of order. I was advised this on arrival when it appeared I may need an Xray, with an estimate of when this could occur. Further updates were provided, and I was taken to Xray promptly when it became operational.
The results of my Xray were discussed and explained clearly. Feedback from the orthopaedic surgeon (in Bunbury) who assessed the Xrays was prompt, professional and informative.
I was fitted with a moon boot and provided with crutches. Again, the nurse was considerate, helpful and friendly. I was also provided with information on how to access the Apex app to enable me to view and share my scans and the report.
When calling the hospital later in the day regarding follow up, I was put through promptly to the appropriate person, who contacted the orthopaedic surgeon and then called me back with further advice.
We are extremely fortunate to have a hospital system with such well qualified, professional and supportive people. I cannot thank the Margaret River Hospital Emergency Department team enough for the service they provided to me.
