My mum suffered a big stroke 4 and a half weeks ago she arrived at emergency and then on to the wards at Sydney Hospital. She has been in excellent hands since being there, the care has been kind and patient and me and my brothers are very appreciative of this.
The only issue has been the time taken to get my mum to the most appropriate care; a stroke rehab centre. We are over a month in and she is still on the ward. While the care is great, it seems the staff (thank you to all the doctors and nurses for your hard work and patience) here do not have everything they need to provide the best chances of recovery.
We have quietly plugged away to advocate for Mum and have been supported hugely by Dani who has gone above and beyond with care and compassion to our family situation, particularly of course for securing VIP treatment for Mum. Thank you so much Dani, me and my brothers are big fans! The social worker, Laura who has such a huge workload has found the time to sit down with me and explain next steps which has been very reassuring, again thank you. All in all a great experience other than the frustration of waiting to get Mum to the best and most suitable care in a timely manner...still waiting.
