I had an operation to restore my tear duct, after it was blocked by a punctal plug. I had waited 18 months. I felt the surgery and after care was faultless.
At the 2 week post op checkup, the surgeon explained it was about trying to keep the little tube in as long as possible. He could see my eye was getting inflamed/irritated so he prescribed a steroid and an antibiotic eye ointment. I managed to get to the SEH pharmacy 15 mins before closing, but they wouldn’t serve me. Told me in, I felt, an offhand way to go to my local chemist as it was cheaper.
I don’t have a local chemist, and didn’t manage to get to one. 2 days later, my eye gets really irritated, I rub it carefully I think, but next thing I’m holding the tiny tube that needed to stay in. = operation fail.
Seriously! Operation fail seemingly because they couldn’t extend themselves to serve me. What a waste of everyone’s time and resources I feel this is, and now I have to do it all again. And as a sole trader, the cost of days off vs paying the extra for the slightly increased cost of medication.
I’m utterly frustrated at their apparent attitude.
