To whom it may concern
I would like to express to you my utter unadulterated disgust in what I witnessed recently whilst with my partner who was waiting to see an eye doctor. I was appalled beyond words to have witnessed an employee of your hospital repeatedly seemingly deprive people of what I believe is the basic human right in using the public toilets in your emergency waiting room, the only reason for them doing this was from what I and I believe others present could tell was because they were or at least appeared to be people who are currently sleeping rough?
Sleeping rough or not they are still human beings and members of our society and in my opinion it is totally acceptable that they be permitted to use the public toilets in your waiting room. This staff member who’s job appeared to be a welcome person of some description, was anything but welcoming in my opinion, I felt they were in fact abrupt, appearing at times rude and worst of all I felt they were openly practising discrimination in a public hospital in the heart of the CBD and right next door to our state’s Parliament House. A more disgraceful exhibition I feel I have not witnessed anywhere in the western world!
It made me ashamed to be an Australian. NSW Health claims to uphold CORE values, an acronym for Collaboration - Openness - Respect - Excellence, that is seemingly unless you are unfortunate enough to not have a home, I take it?
I have footage of what in my opinion is the atrocities I and others witnessed and I will be passing them on to both The Australian Human Rights Commission and The NSW Minister for Healths office as well as The Australian Federal Minister for Healths Office.
Of all the places one might encounter what I feel are suchunlawful practices, I feel it defies imagination that it is taking place in a public hospital, a place where people come for help, not to be seemingly victimised and in my opinion discriminated against!
