"Giving birth at the Family Birth Centre, King Eddies"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Family Birth Centre

(as a service user),

I had a beautiful birth experience at the FBC. Having continuity of care throughout my pregnancy allowed me to form a beautiful connection with both my midwife and also the FBC model as a whole, which led to me feeling completely supported, safe and respected throughout pregnancy and birth.

I remember arriving at the FBC while in labour and instantly feeling soothed by my angel of a midwife and the warm, calming environment. I needed to transfer to the main hospital after birth due to some complications, but even this was done in a way that I felt calm, cared for and supported, and was able to soak in those special first minutes and hours with my baby. I have nothing but good things to say about the FBC and everyone I met who works there.

Congratulations earthnx94, to you and your family on the birth of your baby and thank you for taking the time to provide such wonderful feedback regarding your experience at the Family Birth Centre.

It was lovely to hear that you received the care and continuity you needed to support you through your pregnancy and birth of your baby. We are very proud of care provided by our staff and the way they partner with our patients to achieve positive outcomes during the pregnancy and birthing journey. It was also great to hear that, although you had some complications after the birth, you felt calm, cared for and supported after your transfer to the hospital.

Once again, many thanks for your feedback and all the best for the future.

Barbara Lourey
