Recently, I was viciously attacked by a dog and was taken to the Collie Regional Hospital. As my upper thigh was badly lacerated with a loss of muscle tissue, Doctor Shankar organised for me to be transferred to the Bunbury Regional Hospital for a wound wash out and surgery. I also suffered a lacerated finger which was stitched when having thigh surgery. My left thumb had a broken which Dr Nick fixed about a month later via surgery at the Bunbury Regional Hospital.
Thank you to Jackie, Margaret Swan, and Leah for looking after me the day of the dog attack and keeping me comfortable before I was taken to Bunbury Regional Hospital via Patient Transfer with Jan and Kyle.
I spent 3 days in the Day Surgery section at the Bunbury Regional Hospital. All the medical people involved were fantastic. Some names I can remember are Warren the anaesthetist, Delaney, Stuart and Marie from day surgery. That you to the others whom I can not remember.
The day before I came home the wound specialist Anne put together a Wound Assessment and Management Plan for the staff at ED Collie Regional Hospital on how to dress my thigh wound. (was quite complicated while I had the bag and the drain.) Karen was the first nurse to do this. She was confident and worked out what to do and did a great job.
The wonderful staff at the ED Collie Regional Hospital did my thigh dressings from October 2022 to January 2023.
All staff who looked after me were professional, caring and even though most days they were extremely busy, I still received respect and given the time needed. Some days I was down in the dumps and Beth and others always encouraged me that I would get over my dog attack. Beth also assessed my wounds regularly.
Special thanks to all involved: Nurse Practitioner Beth, Peter, Jackie, Margaret, Leah, Karen, Bell, Andrew, Wendy, Liz, Raylene, Vlad, Janelle, Amanda, Aleshia, Amanda (from kangaroo island) Amy, Carys, TJ, Karen (from Bunbury) Allison, Kim and Dr Ash. Hope I have not left anyone out.
Also thank you to the reception staff at the front for making sure all my visits were always booked in.
"Thank you medical staff"
