Recently, my father became very ill. Ambulance staff attended his home and carefully and reassuringly took him to St George hospital. This made the family very confident he was on the way to receiving the care required.
He then stayed in the emergency department where his daughter was grateful for the care he received and the kindness shown to him. He was transferred to ward 6 b and was then under the care of the palliative care team.
This team were beautiful in the treatment of Barry and the family and even though he was Covid positive willingly gowned up family members so they could sit with him, talk and hold his hand. It was a precious time for us so we could relate to those who were not able to be there about his condition and that he was comfortable.
when he passed we were sure that he was in the best possible place and was beautifully cared for by the doctors and nurses. We will be forever grateful for their professionalism and the dignity with which he was treated
