"Exceptional care during my visit to ED"

I had an unplanned visit to the ED at the Kalgoorlie Health Campus and I felt that the care I received was exceptional.

The receptionist Sam was professional, respectful and identified the urgency associated with my concerns, I was triaged by a wonderful Agency nurse Belinda who was friendly and compassionate.  I was then cared for a nurse by the name of Rowan, who was kind, excellent at communicating and he was very careful to explain the infection control processes put in place when inserting a line.

Paula an exceptional doctor!  Paula was extremely compassionate and thorough in understanding my symtoms.  Paula explained all of her assessment of what was happening with my condition, and the tests they would be undertaking and the treatment that they would be providing at the time.  Paula followed up with me prior to finishing her shift and explained the tests she had ordered that would be required within the next couple of days to confirm the suspected diagnosis.  Dr Paula advised me that she would ensure the tests were sent to my GP.

Dr Aakansha continued to follow up my care with the senior doctors until I could go home.  The next day, I received a call from the medical imaging area as there was a cancellation and they could fit me in.  I then had a subsequent contact with my GP requesting me to get in contact with them to discuss my results.  My care from the time I arrived right through to receiving the call to attend my scan and the follow through to my GP was exceptional.  I expected this would take much longer than it did.   A big thank you to the team in ED at the hospital.
