"Palliative care for my wife"

About: Community Nursing (Bass Coast Health)

(as a relative),

My dear wife passed away recently at home after a six-year battle with cancer. It was her wish to stay at home until the end. This was only possible due to the Palliative Care Nurses who provided a level of care and advice well beyond my expectations, with respect and concern for my wife and support for myself. I won't mention individuals, but I can say that the support from all the nurses was of a very consistent high standard. I feel Bass Coast Health should be very proud of the service provided and I am very lucky to live in a location that provides this service.

I originally intended to write to Jan Childs (CEO) with a copy to Rebecca  expressing my gratitude however I found this web site and hope that this note can be passed on.

Again with many thanks

Mollydog

Dear Mollydog,

I am so sorry that you have lost your dear wife. Please accept my sincere condolences. This must be a very sad time, and I am very grateful that you have taken the time to thank our lovely community nursing team during what will be a difficult time for you.

I'm a nurse myself, so I have a belief that nurses have good hearts, but I think the nurses who support patients and families through their palliative journey, are particularly special. Very big hearts, and I know our team of nurses doing this work with Rebecca feel very privileged.

We will make sure they all see your post, and I know that they will feel very humbled by your lovely feedback. I hope you are doing ok, and I wish you all the best.

Kind Regards,

Jan
