My journey has a happy ending but it was relentless. I met Mr Rob or should l say Dr Miracle worker a couple years ago after a referral from rheumatology at Royal Perth hospital.
I felt he was obnoxious, short tempered and l basically walked out of the clinic bewildered and pissed off. I now know why and I feel this amazing surgeon has every right to behave in this manner. It seems he was correct in everything he said to me. I feel he doesn’t cut corners or just do the surgery because it is required. He makes sure that every possible situation is covered and then rechecked again. I’m not shy and also not medical-uneducated about my multiple chronic diseases but l can’t thank Mr Rob and his incredible team enough. We hit a few hiccups along the journey- Covid-19, my psoriasis flare ups on a few occasions. Delays due to other health conditions flare ups that put the surgery date back again. Sometimes l couldn’t understand why he couldn’t just do it but now l completely agree with every recommendation’s he advised.
The surgery was a complete nightmare for both Mr Rob and myself due to a long term arthritic damage and major infection complications after surgery.
But Royal Perth hospital, Mr Rob, the Orthopaedics surgical team and nurses, specialist wound nurses, outpatient nurses and staff, and finally the infectious diseases doctors and nurses from Silverchain who managed my care were World class in every way.
The change that they made and the new lease on life they have given myself and in turn my time with my son is immeasurable.
So l thank you all for my new foot and see you soon for the other foot!
