I have just recently had hip surgery number 7. A huge thanks to all staff from the front desk right through to ssu, theatre and all the staff I saw on 53. A special shout out to both Sophies as well as jaye on the ward who took great care of me and the physio Julie. She really did go above and beyond and made sure i was ready for discharge. Especially when i was in a brace that no one had seen before.
The discharge process was not as streamlined as previous admissions but i understand its busy so waiting is not a problem. I think the junior staff doing the discharges need to have a little more insight to the patients history and listen to what patients are telling them though. Ie if the patient is on crutches for 6-8 weeks, I believe a med cert of 2 weeks isnt going to be long enough etc. In my opinion, i shouldnt have to go the gp to get an extension on it or wait until my 6 week clinic appointment.
huge thanks to the girls in discharge lounge as well who got me on my way.
