"Epistaxis sorted thank you all"

About: St George Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Hello there Manager St George Hospital. Recently one weekend evening I presented at your ED Kogarah site. I was conveyed there by a friend with a ongoing significant nose bleed.

At the reception window I believe the lady could see that I was distressed and bleeding (pinched nose). A speedy vocal check in and seen quickly by triage nurse. A speedy trip to a ED bed. There the nurse hooked me up to all the electronic gizzmos and insereted a cannula. A appropriate sense of humour, in my opinion, and sporting happy christmas theme garb. Really welcome and put us both in quasi holiday mode.

Epistaxis sorted for the moment further tests and off to the short stay area. Must say I felt the ED and contiguous areas as busy as Heatrhrow Airport. All your staff I saw were fraternising with each other and the patients. A RAT was conducted.

Whilst waiting in the short stay area I felt it was disappointing to hear another patient complaining about the wait time (discharge). I believe your staff managed the whingers with aplomb. The  Doctor assessed my situation and provided excellent advice re ongoing management  of epistaxis. I felt I was not rushed out the door and a overnight stay was available if I was overly concerned of a return bleed. The next day a female employee of the Hospital rang me to check on my status. To you all a big thank you.

Dear ophiuchuskt64,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your recent presentation to St George Hospital Emergency Department (ED).

Emergency Departments can be very busy places at times and I was pleased to hear of the high standard of treatment you received as well as the next day follow up call.

We are very fortunate to have dedicated people working at St George Hospital who are committed to providing quality health care to the community at all times.

I have forwarded your kind words to the Head of Department and Nurse Manager of the ED to share with the ED team.

Once again, thank you for sharing your experience with us.

Best wishes

Ange Karooz

General Manager
