I am successfully recovering from an operation to repair my left eye's retina thanks to the excellent medical staff at Sydney Eye Hospital
I awoke a few weeks ago with badly distorted left eye vision. In consulting my optometrist she advised I attend the emergency dept of Sydney Eye Hospital. Arriving at the Eye Hospital, it was pretty busy, but I was seen by the doctor after 30 mins. After 3 doctors examining me and them consulting with their senior doctor a couple of hours later I was admitted to the hospital for surgery the next day.
I was operated on for a retinal tear where a laser repairs the damage done.
The doctors and nurses were amazing! I was the final operation for the day, starting around 10 pm, and they were all fully focussed after dealing with many patients in a long list that day.
My operation has been a success and my vision fully restored. I am very grateful to the staff of the Sydney Eye Hospital for their care and expertise.
It is also a good news story for the public hospital system in NSW. I was in trouble and the system responded and worked as everyone hopes it would in an emergency situation.
I put the tear in my retina down to random bad luck. My good luck was to act quickly to get my condition professionally assessed, and my even better luck was to experience the excellent care and expertise of the medical staff at Sydney Eye Hospital.
The staff I dealt with were all working hard with what appeared to a very big patient load but they conducted themselves thoroughly in their treatment of me and with respect and even with a nice touch of good humour!
