I recently had a planned surgery at Hedland Health Campus and had an overall positive experience, I wanted to provide some feedback on certain staff members in particular.
Student nurse Fran in the pre-op ward, aside from doing her necessary duties, took the time to ask how I was feeling and had a lovely chat while I was waiting apprehensively for my surgery. It might not have seemed like much to her but small kindnesses like that can make a big difference.
Lauren looked after me in pre op and recovery, she was so efficient and kind. I struggled with pain when I woke up after surgery but she was never condescending in anyway and tried her best to make me as comfortable as possible.
My anaesthetist, she was very reassuring and also very personable, a calming presence in the organised chaos of the theatre.
Hayati was one of the nurses in theatre and was so comforting when I became anxious waiting for the anaesthetic to be administered. I really appreciated her empathy and kindness.
Nicole looked after me on the ward after my surgery. She was extremely busy but treated her patients with such graciousness despite being run off her feet. I had a fairly noisy roommate and Nicole even tactfully brought me a set of earplugs to help me sleep.
Lisa was the ward nurse looking after me on the morning that I was discharged. She was very helpful particularly with advice for managing pain etc post op.
Darcy, one the physios, pushed me in a wheelchair from the ward to the entrance of the hospital when it was time to leave. She wasn’t involved in my care at all but was just being helpful. It was much appreciated as my husband was juggling our two kids as well as helping me.
Thank you to HHC staff for ensuring that I was well looked after during my stay.
