"Emergency care received"

About: Kalgoorlie Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

I had to bring my young nephew to ED recently.  He has a known cardiac condition and was experiencing tachycardia (the visit was further complicated by the fact he has ADHD and Autism).  Despite the department being extremely busy, we were so well looked after.  The nurse was very mindful of his autism and continuously worked with us to make sure that he was not stressed by the procedures needing to be done.

The Dr Juliette was wonderful and got in contact with his cardiologist from PCH straight away which meant we could have a plan and be discharged home as quick as possible with follow up from the cardiology team in PCH.

I could see how busy and stressed all the nurses and drs were (they were literally running) but never once did I feel like we were not receiving the best possible care.  Thank you all.

Dear cruxjf64,

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about the care you received at the Kalgoorlie Health Campus, Emergency Department (ED) recently.

I often reflect on the challenges facing families of children with ongoing health conditions, so I am very proud to hear our staff were able to provide the care your nephew needed, and that you both felt looked after.

Positive words, such as these, from the families we treat in our community, have a big impact on the morale of our staff, who as you have identified work in a busy ED environment.

I will make sure your appreciation is passed on to the team.

I hope your nephew is going well with his ongoing care.

Kind regards,

Alicia
