I attended this hospital to receive a fairly routine procedure. What impressed me was the level of friendliness and kindness across all levels of staff. It was evident from all of the staff - receptionist, nurses, doctors and volunteers.
I'd like to thank Joy for her friendly and professional manner when taking my history. And Lia for her smiling face before directing me to my bed....one of the things she did was place her hand on my shoulder a couple of times to reassure me and to ensure that all was OK. She did see that I was not sure quite where to go as Joy thought I'd take longer to change into my hospital gown in the changing room and had ducked off to the loo. The anaesthetist had excellent communication skills as they explained things clearly and ensured that I was fully aware of what was going to happen. The doctor was also clear in what would happen. Both doctors had a good sense of humour. Even the decor in the ward was wonderful. I love dogs and there was a wall poster of the staff's pets and their names - how cute! Finally, I want to thank the volunteer who made a point of coming over to say hello and ensure I was OK. She's been volunteering there for many years.
Overall a great experience, and I'd make the point that I just assume all the technical stuff for my procedure is in good hands - what made the difference for me was the caring, friendly and very personable approach of staff who seemed very happy in their work, and to meet and greet patients.
