Recently, I attended the orthopedic clinic at Rockingham Hospital. The doctor called me two days later to say the specialist was not in agreement and wanted to see me in about 4 weeks. I understand the doctor wrote to my GP with this information.
As I had not heard anything, I checked with a member of staff in the clinic only to be told that it was in four months. I recall the doctor's instructions were for the follow up to be 4/52. I believe the staff have taken this to be months when in fact it is weeks and I have spoken to other staff at the hospital and confirmed that when it is over 52 it is weeks. It is over 12 if it is months.
I am not sure if I want to push the issue with them but feel that there is potentially a lack of training for the clerical staff. How many other people have had to wait longer for follow ups because of this error in reading doctor's instructions?
