"Wonderful ultrasound experience at Karratha"

About: Karratha Health Campus / Medical Imaging Department

I'm writing to provide feedback on a recent pregnancy ultrasound experience at Karratha Health Campus. Prior to this scan, I've unfortunately had a number of less positive experiences across three pregnancies, most of which I felt came down to the poor interpersonal skills of the staff completing the ultrasounds. Most recently, I was referred to have a scan after my care team expressed concerns about my baby's growth.

I was fortunate enough to have Laura provide this scan. She introduced herself as she showed me into her room and was courteous, approachable and reassuring throughout the duration of the appointment. She helped me to feel comfortable and to ask questions, and her communication was clear as she supported me to understand the process, the measurements she was taking and what they meant. Laura's care and personal skills made the world of difference at what was quite an anxious time for me and I was able to come away from the appointment feeling understood and reassured.

Thank you, Laura. Based on my experience, I believe Karratha Health Campus is lucky to have you.

It is wonderful to hear that Laura of our Medical Imaging Team created such a positive and informative experience for you at your recent ultrasound appointment. These are the organisational values and customer service we expect all staff to demonstrate. I will provide Laura and her Manager with your informative and important feedback.

I would also like to use your story as an example for discussions and staff development workshops as an example of how we can embody the WA Country Health Service values, demonstrating compassion and providing quality of care to improve and enhance all of our consumers experience within our health service.

I am very sorry to hear that at past ultrasound appointments you encountered poor interpersonal skills from staff resulting in negative experiences, but it’s great to know Laura was able to support you during your ultrasound and helped you to feel at ease and understood.
