We took our child to A&E recently after a sporting accident. An X-Ray was taken and a brace put on but came away unclear of what actually was wrong.
Two days later, we received a call from the hospital to say my child may have a fracture in their wrist after a Radiologist had reviewed, that they may be referred to the Fracture Clinic for a cast or take them to our GP to then go back to the fracture clinic (clear as mud).
A few days later and still hadn't heard anything, our child was still taking panadol for the pain. I called the fracture clinic and they said my child has been booked in for mid-December, 28 days after the accident. We have had no notification.
I have booked an appointment with a GP because I feel like our child has fallen through a large crack in the hospital system. Communication has been poor. I'm not a doctor, that's why I seek and put my trust in a doctor's opinion. To feel then, that you constantly have to be on your toes and advocating because you are going to get a C grade service, in my opinion, makes you lose faith in the system.
