"Air conditioning during medical appt"

About: Osborne Park Hospital

(as the patient),

I had an appt with the doctor at OPH and the air-conditioning was so cold in their room and the entire corridor that I could not focus on the discussion as I was literally freezing. Given my Parkinson's, I am underweight and I feel the cold even more than usual.

I noticed other staff in the corridor were wearing jumpers on a 33-degree day and I mentioned that I must be the only one feeling the cold. The staff member was apologetic and acknowledged it was always terribly cold in the offices   (summer and winter) and staff had to dress in winter clothing all year long and still felt cold.

Dear normawj35,

I am so sorry to hear that the temperature of the air conditioning in the Outpatient area affected your ability to focus on the discussion during your appointment. I am happy to advise that the air conditioning issue in this area was rectified very recently.

The staff working in the area have advised me that there are always blankets on hand for patients and I apologise if you were not offered the use of them. The Outpatient staff have been reminded to consider their patients’ needs in this regard.

I would like to thank you for your feedback which has been a useful reminder for staff to strive to meet each patient’s individual needs.

Kind regards

Janet Zagari
