"Video consultation"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Telehealth Services

(as a carer),

Our appointment for a video consultation from the country was scheduled for mid-morning. The staff at the community health centre were very efficient and told us that Fiona Stanley Hospital was notorious for being late to appointments.

We waited for one and a quarter hours to no avail and there was another appointment for a video call in 15 minutes so we couldn't wait. I contacted the local telehealth liaison and they were going to contact Fiona Stanley to make another appointment.

As we got home we had a phone call from the surgeon and my spouse was able to talk with them. My problem is that during the video call I believe we would be able to ask more questions and get the answers we require. Plus, I believe there are patients far worse than us that have to sit around and waste time when feeling very ill.

Dear squathk98,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback following your recent telehealth experience. I am very sorry to hear that you waited over an hour and a quarter for your scheduled video consultation. I apologise for the inconvenience this caused you and your family and understand that a video conference would have been the ideal appointment option.

If you would like to contact the Patient and Family Liaison Service (PFLS) with your details we can investigate the circumstances, contact the surgeon concerned and provide a more thorough response. PFLS can be contacted Monday to Friday 8.30 am – 4.30 pm, via email on FSHFeedback@health.wa.gov.au or 6152 4013.

We do hope to hear from you soon.

Kind regards,

Neil Doverty
