"Hypnobirthing Classes"

About: Avon Valley Midwifery Group Practice Bunbury Hospital / Maternity Positive Birth Program

(as the patient),

I just wanted to say the biggest THANK YOU from both my husband and I, for giving us the most beautiful, empowering & amazing birth through your hypnobirthing course.

My first 2 babies were born after very long, hard and painful labours where I was completely exhausted and depleted by the time they were born. I was determined that this time would be different and looked into hypnobirthing courses but they were just unaffordable.

At that stage, I then thought the answer was to go to a hospital where I could get an epidural so we booked that in, even though it meant we had to travel. Then we were told by our local midwives about you doing the free hypnobirthing course through zoom and I was so excited. We found the whole thing amazing and the fact that we could do it from our own home (in our pyjamas) without having to find babysitters for our other kids was the biggest help.

My husband absolutely loved it too and got right into it by making a birth playlist, printing the material he needed and making sure he knew exactly what to do. He has a child from a previous relationship who was born months premmie, so the whole birthing process up until doing the course I believe terrified him. He now raves about hypnobirthing to everyone, saying every expectant father should do it.

Our midwives at Northam hospital were so supportive of the birth we wanted and so complimentary afterwards, saying how beautiful it all was and commenting on how calm and in control we both were the whole time. I spent most of my labour in the birthing pool, using only gas and got out of the pool to birth. Our little baby starting crowning to the song "Into my arms" by Nic Cave and then arrived to "Just You" by Amy Stroup. Our baby was born after 6 hours of labour.

So thank you once again for giving us the most beautiful, amazing birth. It was everything we needed as my husband was diagnosed with cancer just 3 weeks before the birth and although things are now looking very positive, our lives spun out of control for a while there until we had more answers, so us having the tools we needed to focus on a calm and positive birth during such a difficult time meant the world to us.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!! ❤❤

Kind Regards.

Dear footballeh69,

We are so happy that your experience with our telehealth antenatal class was so positive and able to provide a supportive environment to enable a calm birth. I especially love the playlist your husband made, what a wonderful adjunct to the hypnobirthing techniques you learned to enable a peaceful birth. It sounds like it was a comfort for your husband to assist you in bringing your baby into this world in this way as well as healing for him following a premature birth which can be full of fear and unknown as well as following the shock of a cancer diagnosis. Our hypnobirthing classes are created to assist both women and their partners through the journey of pregnancy, birth and beyond and it seems they have achieved all of that for you as a family. I will pass on your kind words to Kasey.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby and we wish you all the best for the future.

Warm regards

Andrea Drew, Acting Clinical Midwifery Manager, Maternity Ward Bunbury Hospital
