"HypnoBirthing Bunbury"

About: Positive Birth Program

(as a service user),

I attended the HypnoBirthing classes at Bunbury Hospital. The classes were relaxed and welcoming. Kasey presented the information clearly and thoughtfully, drawing on her own experience as a birthing mother and a midwife.

I felt so calm and prepared for my birth. It also helped my partner with the confidence and knowledge to support me during the birth. During the birth, I felt very comfortable and knowledgeable with what was happening to my body, thanks to this class. Kasey also showed cultural respect and sensitivity for Aboriginal peoples, which made my partner (who is a Noongar Yamatji man) feel very comfortable. I could not fault the class at all but would also love to see a similar class (conscious parenting / gentle parenting / parental mental health) to help prepare for breastfeeding and parenthood.

Dear Hypnobirthing,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences on Care Opinion.

We are very fortunate to be able to conduct the hypnobirthing class through Bunbury Hospital, and Kasey’s knowledge and passion play a large part in that. I am pleased that she was able to conduct these classes in a manner of cultural safety, which is at the core of WACHS values.

Currently, parenting classes are being held via VC by the midwifery team in Northam, and Bunbury is exploring the options of a breastfeeding service. I agree that this is an area that we can continue to grow and develop across WACHS.

I wish you and your family all the best for your future ahead and I am sure that the tools learnt during the classes will continue to be useful as you navigate the next chapter in your journey. I will ensure that your kind words are passed onto Kasey. Take care.

Katrina Jones
