"Hypnobirth, MGP and Birth Experience"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Maternity Positive Birth Program

(as the patient),

My husband and I fell pregnant with our second bundle of joy last year, our previous birth was through another hospital in Bunbury and although we could not fault anything regarding our birth or care given I had in my heart that I wanted to have a water birth.

We decided to go through the MGP program and attempt a home birth, unfortunately, due to having GD (Gestational Diabetes) and needing insulin I was informed I needed to be induced and give birth at the hospital. We had been attending Kasey’s positive birth program at the time we found out about the GD and I think if we had not been attending this class it could have totally derailed me. However with the amazing support of this class, my beautiful midwife Christina and student midwife Jilly I ended up being able to push my induction date to 39 weeks, only needing ARM and being able to have my beautiful water birth.

We had a few complications with bub after birth and they were whisked away to the nursery where they stayed for a few days, the beautiful student doctors and outstanding nurses that looked after our baby and me, I can ot thank enough.

We are so lucky to live where we do and have access to the positive birth program and MGP.

Dear defendergx39,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences whilst under our care. We are fortunate at Bunbury to be able to provide such an exceptional service to the local community with both the Antenatal classes and the Midwifery Group Practice

Although it sounds as though your birth journey didn’t quite go to plan, I am pleased that you were able to utilise the tools from the Antenatal classes, and together with your Midwife able to negotiate through the options and the choices that you needed to make, and achieve your goal.

I wish you and your family all the best as you settle into the routine (is there actually one?) of having a newborn in the household. I will ensure that your kind words are passed onto Christine, Jillian, Kasey and the members of the nursery team and thank you again.
