"Midwifery Group Practice"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Maternity

(as a service user),

I recently gave birth to my baby and have been under the care of the Midwifery Group Practice (MGP). The midwives at the MGP are amazing in my opinion and I feel I can’t rave about them enough; they are always a phone call away if I had any questions or concerns and were always happy to assist, I believe they are a wealth of knowledge and are happy to discuss anything, any time.

I commenced active labour in the early hours of the morning and I was able to call my midwife and they met me at the hospital, they were very calm, relaxed and made me feel safe. They were able to discuss options with me for pain relief, the pros and cons of each, therefore, I feel I was able to make an informed decision.

I had to be induced as my waters had broken the previous day and my labour was not progressing, my midwife was able to walk me through what was happening and why I was monitored along with my baby.

As things progressed my baby became distressed and I was unable to push my baby out, the call was made for an episiotomy and I’m so thankful it was. I cannot thank the midwifes at the MGP enough, they were extremely supportive, calm but assertive when needed.

Since discharge the midwives have attended my house each day and are happy to sit and chat or assist with anything I need. 100% recommend the staff at the MGP.

Dear requirementnp38,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences whilst under the care of the Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) team. We are fortunate at Bunbury to be able to provide such an exceptional service to the local community, and I know the girls appreciate the feedback.

Although it sounds as though your birth journey didn’t quite go to plan, I am pleased that your midwife was able to support you and your partner through the options and the choices that you needed to make.

I wish you and your family all the best as you settle into the routine (is there actually one?) of having a newborn in the household. I will ensure that your kind words are passed onto the team and thank you again.
