I visited my parent in hospital between 7-8pm. A staff member came around to offer tea and coffee but we felt their manner was very off-putting. When my parent jokingly asked if there was any nice cake they, the staff member grunted no and left. I thought they may come back and offer my parent a biscuit as there was quite a selection on the trolley but they did not.
When coming back to collect the cups the staff member grunted You done? - and left. I understand it may have been late and they may have been tired, but my parent became very concerned that they had upset the staff member because their manner was so off-putting. In my opinion, elderly patients who are in hospital for extended stays don't have much else to think about and a bright and cheery manner goes a long way. On the whole, the staff at the Narrogin Hospital are usually always so courteous and helpful, but on this occasion, I felt this staff member let the side down.
