I recently needed to be tested for COVID-19 at the York Hospital. Most of my conversations were with Nurse Sharon and she also undertook my testing. My experience was exceptionally positive. They took every care to ensure that I felt at ease and explained everything that was happening and would happen.
I received a call in the afternoon to present at the hospital in about 15 minutes time. My obs and swabs were completed within 15 minutes, then I was asked to wait in the car park until a doctor from Telehealth called. This took around an hour and a half, but I believe that's to be expected given the circumstances. I was gone from the hospital within about 2 hours of the initial phone call.
I've just spoken to someone who needed to be tested in another region, in a much larger hospital and they are waiting 4-5 hours before someone comes to test them. I know the numbers they are dealing with are much bigger, but I wanted to pass on my gratitude to the staff at York Hospital for their exceptional care and how quickly they did what they needed to do. I felt very much cared for and I'm very impressed with the way they handled everything.
