Recently my child was taken to our local hospital (Gladstone) by me as I was there at their house, as I was concerned they were suffering some kind of seizure activity. They couldn't stand properly and was having constant jerky twitching movements and their eyes kept flickering. Their speech was slowed dramatically (and was slurred and kept stuttering) and they kept mixing words up. Their hands would shake, then legs, then nothing and then again they would cycle through the symptoms.
This happened for a period of about three and a half hours. Their memory is sketchy and is missing time in chunks, and they had a seizure the day before and went to hospital (they were away and somehow those records are not there). There is a genetic link to epilepsy in our family and when I told the Doctor I felt that we weren't heard, and they let them go home after they came round and was themselves again, it appeared to me that they did not take the symptoms seriously. I feel in any other hospital they would have been kept overnight for observation at the very least, this did not happen.
Their blood was okay, and the CT scan was good but they did not do an EEG or and ECG on them at all, it wasn't even suggested. I understand that these symptoms may not be the 'classic' epilepsy symptoms, however they are the same as how my own epilepsy presents.
