Recently my spouse and I attended the new Antenatal Clinic at Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital for a consultation appointment with the hospitals Obstetrician. For our first child we had a less than desirable experience with a complex and stressful first-time pregnancy which resulted in some issues during birth and eventual Royal Flying Doctor Service transfer of our baby to Perth. For that pregnancy we were under the care of a local GP for no particular reason other than being first-time parents and not knowing what options we had.Our little one is healthy now which is all that matters.
We went to the new antenatal clinic recently and were scheduled in to see Lilijana who unfortunately was away at the time, however we ended up seeing Dr Maurice instead. We found Dr Maurice really good during the appointment who was really great for providing in-depth detail for our questions related to the upcoming birth of our second child. He really took the time to answer the questions and we didn't feel rushed out of the appointment nor did he give us the impression we were silly for asking certain questions. Instead we came away thinking how great it was that this chap we had never met provided a patient-focused experience for us. We have no doubt that we will be opting for the Obstetrician to handle the birth when it does happen.
On a side note, the clinic looked great and felt private and safe which I think is important for this type of service.
Thank you and looking forward to meeting our bub under the care of the hospital's Obstetrician and team of Midwives.
