My mother-in-law lived at home with her unmarried daughter for many years until January this year. Her health had been declining in the last year and by Christmas 2018 she was unable to walk and the family were unable to look after her at home.
We moved her to the Allity nursing home in Pemulwuy in early January 2019.
Mum was 94. She had a congestive heart failure and was a bit senile, although she was often quite aware. She had a happy disposition and was quite co-operative most of the time. Nevertheless, mum was continuing to decline steadily. She was unwilling to be in a nursing home and constantly wanted to go home. It was difficult to get her to eat properly, and this had also been a problem at home.
The staff at the home were very kind and compassionate. They showed genuine concern for her welfare. They were tolerant of the difficulties they faced with toileting and getting her to eat properly.
Sadly, mum died on 7th April.
Right until her death, the nursing home staff were kind to her.
Our family is genuinely grateful for the kindness shown to our mother in her final days.
"Staff at Allity Aged Care Pemulwuy were very caring for my mother-in-law's last days."
