"Staff attitude"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Hi, recently I needed 3 sutures over my eyebrows and had to visit Sydney Emergency after 12 midnight.

We asked the lady at reception if this was the Emergency Unit.

She replied saying - Can't you read the board before entering? We thought we entered the wrong building and started to go when we realised she was being sarcastic. The nurse told us yes, it was indeed Emergency - please register at the reception.

We felt the receptionist continued to stare rudely and asked me for Medicare or Driving License or Personal Insurance.

I handed her the Medicare and she shouted for DL and Personal Insurance!

I told her to talk politely or we will complain. She said - sure go ahead and complain!

I can't understand how the first point of contact in Emergency Unit can be, in our opinion, so inhumane.
