"Maternity at Bentley"

About: Bentley Hospital / Maternity Ward 2 & Neonatal Nursery

(as the patient),

I recently had my third child at Bentley Hospital and I honestly think this place is a hidden gem! I’m almost reluctant to tell everyone how great it is in case everyone wants to have their baby there. This is a small community style hospital, it’s an old building with a big heart. Don’t judge the care by the look of the building, trust me the care is second to none. Everyone I have met has been amazing. I had continuity of care with the same midwife and doctor for all my antenatal appointments. They were very reassuring in the clinic and I felt listen to as an active participant in my care. When it came time to have my baby it was a very busy day, but the midwife and student midwife made me feel like they had all the time in the world for me. Their care and support during my labour will stay in my memory forever. They facilitated a wonderful natural and intervention free delivery and my baby  was born into the most caring environment. There were doctors available to assess him immediately and after to assess me and administer appropriate treatment otherwise it was all midwife led. The ward was a little loud so we chose to come home 24 hours post birth and see the visiting midwife for the next 5 days. She has also been amazing and again I’ve had the same midwife visiting daily which is great continuity. Some other positive things about Bentley include free parking! I mean where else in Perth can you get that? They also have their own on site chef who makes fresh, large rustic/home cook style portions. The only negative that I can think of is that the ward is shared rooms (usually two to a room), although I got lucky and had the room to myself. This hospital also has shared bathrooms. Overall I would highly recommend having a baby here. The care I received was excellent and I’ve had babies in the private system previously as well as another large Perth public hospitals, so I feel my review had a good base for comparison.

Dear pixie,

Firstly congratulations on the birth of your third child. What a delightful time for you and your family. I am so happy to hear that you had the birth that you wanted and we were able to facilitate this for you. We are very fortunate to have both the dedicated staff and the facilities that we do at Bentley.

I wish you and your new arrival all the best.
