In my opinion, my mother was treated poorly, was not listen to and was treated in an undignified manner. I felt I received repercussions for requesting better care for my mother. My mother was admitted to a secure unit with no explanation. My mother was told she was being transferred to a secondary hospital for rehabilitation only to be transferred to another secure unit with no explanation. As a family we were not kept informed. My mother had a significant adverse reaction to pain medication. Despite being told on 2 occasions, the treating doctors continued to give my mother the medication until I insisted that the hospital stop giving my mother the pain medication after my mother's health significantly declined.
So now my mother is in a secure aged care facility with no rehabilitation, despite having a significant lung injury and spending 4 weeks in a US hospital. It would appear that the staff at RPH have made decisions about my mother's care with zero consultation with her family, admitted her to secure medical units with no explanation and discharged her with no care plan?
"Medication safety and lack of trauma informed care."
