Okay the nurse was polite and respectful but what struck me hard was questions about my religion and country I came from. I do understand health professionals ask where you've been and come from, that's normal. But I think asking what I believe is not normal. They asked me three times if I am Muslim,  so that is islamophobic right there.

Thank you for telling us your story. As an organisation we take very seriously how we interact and communicate with our patients and their families and carers and have no tolerance towards discrimination of any sort. The Great Southern is one of the most culturally diverse regions in WA and we are proud of our diverse communities which is also reflected in the diversity of our staff.

I am very sorry that you experienced what you consider to be Islamophobic behaviour. We will reinforce culturally respectful behaviours across the health campus and the region to ensure that this does not happen again.

Thank you very much for your response, it means a lot to me. When a secular person asks about religion it can be very confronting. We all know views on Islam, and because of that I made the complaint to prevent any unrelated wrong questions - that was my point - religion and health are two different things, that's the point. Thanks
