Recently, I was scheduled to have a bone scan. The Breast Cancer Unit Nurse Manager saw the opportunity provided by the 3-hour gap in the bone scan procedure and the time remaining after the second phase of that process, to coordinate the staff in Medical Imaging so that I could have a CT scan in the gap time, and additional ultrasounds required, after the bone scan. The staff in Medical Imaging quickly and efficiently facilitated the CT scan, and then cared for me superbly when I had a reaction to the contrast. They liaised with Nuclear Medicine to ensure that I went directly from completion of the bone scan back to Medical Imaging for the ultrasounds. To carry out the required biopsies, the necessary team was quickly assembled, including cytology. It was a huge day, but I felt grateful to be treated so effectively and with consideration. I feel relieved that all my necessary scans are now complete, before my surgery.
"Superb coordination by teams in Medical Imaging, Nuclear Medicine and Breast Unit"
