"District Nurses Bass Coast Health providing my Dad with care, compassion, respect and due diligence."

About: Allied Health (Bass Coast Health) Community Support Services (Bass Coast Health) Primary & Community Care - Wonthaggi

(as a relative),

My father was diagnosed with stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma (skin cancer), as any person would understand, having cancer or having a family member with cancer is an extremely overwhelming time. Since my Dad's diagnosis in early 2017 we have dealt with a number of different health care providers & organisations. We travel on a weekly basis to appointments within the Bass Coast Health, Wonthaggi Medical Clinic, La Trobe Regional Health and Alfred Health, La Trobe Cancer Care Clinic & numerous physicians. All have been brilliant. My Dad's main care providers who have been with us since Dad's diagnosis are the District Nurses from Bass Coast Health, I cannot even begin to describe how valuable this service has been to not only my Dad but his whole family. This service has meant Dad hasn't had to be hospitalised the entire time he has been ill, it allows him to stay in his home whilst receiving optimum care from the nurses. I work in private health care and I can honestly say the Bass Coast Health (BCH) Nursing service is on par with the services and level of care I have seen within my organisation of employment.

I just want to reiterate and sincerely thank Emma and the entire team at BCH district nursing service for providing my Dad with care, compassion, respect and due diligence.

Dear Duedigilence

Thank you so much, for taking the time to make this post, and for writing such a wonderful letter that I also saw yesterday. I know the HITH (Hospital in the Home) and District nursing staff were really thrilled to get your feedback. I agree that we are extremely blessed to have such a skilled and compassionate group of nursing staff who truly care about their community. I hope that your father is doing ok - and I look forward to that time in the future, when Bass Coast Health will be able to provide a local Oncology service to help avoid some of the travel that people currently have to endure. Thank you once again and I wish you and your father all the best in the journey ahead.

Kind Regards,

Jan.
