"Counselling at BCH resource centre."

About: Community Support Services (Bass Coast Health)

(as a service user),

I needed help to come to terms with quite a few things and sought this help through the services at the Bass Coast Health Resource Centre, also known as the pink house next to the hospital.

I am most certain I would fall deeply into depression without Theresa's guidance and would most likely feel life is no longer worth the struggle. Theresa has saved my life more times than she will ever know. I believe this service is being considered to be cut out on the proviso that you don't have the funding. I implore you not to. You need to actually increase your allocated funding. I'm sure there are many others that are rowing the same boat as me and need this service in order to stay alive. I need this help. With Theresa's help, I am slowly, gaining the strength, courage and skills to actually live life. It's a 2 steps forward, 1 step back, but progress all the same. I almost always feel positive after leaving our appointment.

I seriously think you could improve this service by expanding it with more counsellors, as people in this shire need them and the shire is growing.

Those of you who are making the decisions for BCH and for the people of this shire, should want the best health services in Victoria. Instigate it, and the funding will come. If you are striving to be the greatest, the government will assist I'm certain. The doctors, nurses, specialists, counsellors, admin, etc will want to move here and work at your hospital. BCH is a good hospital, but it could be great. Your decision.

Dear help received at BCH,

Thank you so much for taking the time to make such an important post. Firstly, I am very pleased that you have found the wonderful staff in the Family Resource Centre. They are a very compassionate and committed team who do wonderfully well. To reassure you, whilst many of these programs are dependent on either State or Commonwealth funding, the services that are currently in place have been funded for a minimum of the next 12 months and some of them are funded ongoingly. Also to reassure you, we recognise the inherent value these programs and staff such as counsellors make to the community and will continue to advocate for ongoing resources to match community demand. We have no plans at all to reduce these very important services. I hope that you continue with your progress and I will definitely pass on your positive feedback to Theresa.

Take care,

Jan
