On recent admission to Sale Hospital with my parent, there was a need to photocopy medical documents for my parent's file that were relevant to their treatment (Discharge Summary from previous hospital, etc) I was directed to Reception but was told they did not have a photocopier, then redirected to Human Resources, that was fine as it was during working hours.
on the weekend my parent needed an Echocardiogram with monthly visiting specialist who made some urgent hand written notes (prior to formal written report) to take to my parent's GP at the Monday morning appointment. Specialist wanted me to have a copy of my parent's notes for the doctor and keep a copy for my parent's formal report. Specialist walked with me to reception needing to use a photocopier and was told they didn't have one, and being a Sunday, Human Resources was closed. It appeared that all present were quite frustrated that a fairly basic piece of office equipment was not available at Reception for use on weekends by visiting specialists etc. This has resulted in urgent notes between medical services not being readily available in a timely fashion to facilitate my parent's best care. I saw the Patient Opinion card at reception and here I am to express my concern and opinion. Thanks.
