"Waiting time at Hand Therapy."

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / Hand Therapy

(as the patient),

I had come in for a post surgery follow up at 9. 20am. Having taken half a day off at work, I came in on time and was told to wait. One hour later I decided to ask how long until my turn as I realised it's not definite that I will come back to work on time. Only after I inquired I was then told to wait for another 25 minutes or more. At this stage, I can't help but feel the receptionists could have warned me about the waiting time or informed me that there were only two doctors in - (I overheard this; however I was told later there was only one). I am hoping they come up with a better communication system (maybe via email or text) that my appointment time has been bumped up significantly by an hour and a half.

Dear SW95,

Thank you for taking the time to express your concerns around the waiting times and communication within the Hand Clinic on Patient Opinion. I apologise for your experience in this instance. Your story has been highlighted to all staff within the unit, and that communication is key for our patients. The hospital is investing in a new Q-Flow system in each of our clinics to assist the flow of the clinics, which will make check in more flexible and has a notification system for our patients.

I trust your recovery from hand surgery is going well and again thank you for your feedback.

Kind regards

Jennie
