"I believe post surgery care was ignored"

About: Goulburn Valley Health Royal Melbourne Hospital

(as the patient),

I'm grieving because I could not keep the good work the neurosurgeon in Royal Melbourne Hospital had done. They did such a good job when they removed my spinal cord tumour. I was so very well cared for there by the surgery team and those wonderful nurses - angels - I was so grateful.

But then after I was transferred to Shepparton Hospital for post surgery care my spine was ruined in the 2nd day I was in GVH (Goulburn Valley Health) by who I believe was a junior nurse. In my opinion the nurse in charge did not oversee their junior nurse's work. I believe it ended up that a junior nurse ruined a highly skilled Neurosurgeon's good work. I have to bear the pain and watch my health deteriorating. I'm so sad about that time - it is my understanding that all they had to do was to check my wound and change the dressing - 5-10 minutes of their time. Such minor things led me to such loss. I feel so sad about it.
