"Getting transferred to another hospital that I can get to."

About: Caboolture Hospital Redcliffe Hospital / Cardiology Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

Is there a problem with the administration of these hospitals? I told them I cannot get to the RBWH (Royal Brisbane Women's Hospital) for two consecutive days at the crack of dawn, 40kms through peak / rush hour traffic, toll roads, parking buildings anymore. Could I be transferred to Redcliffe Hospital as they have just started cardiology there. Two appointments appear from the RBWH for two crack of dawn appointments covering 40 kms toll road, peak / rush hour traffic, toll roads and paid parking buildings.

I applied for this transfer 1 year ago and no-one said anything but transferred my details back to RBWH (confusion rules supreme, nothing said to doctor or myself). My doctor said - do it yourself (appreciated). She gave dates of when I asked for that transfer the previous year. I have spent 4 plus weeks nonstop on the phone trying to get some help. I believe I would have spoken to 30 different people and 100 phone calls over both hospitals including the last person who I guess may have been in charge - who I felt reprimanded me for not going to them.

The hospitals do not share information and have no idea what services each offers. Thank you to that person also for what I believe was a disparaging reprimand. Thank you also, like people before you that in my opinion offered no help and recommended that I came in for the two day appointments.

I would have to say the blood pressure problem that I have in my opinion is caused by having trouble getting into RBWH, including the the other thing I mentioned. A lot of people have tried to help going above and beyond but what is this system, contact the cardiology head but can't get an answer. Administration disaster. These head guys also recommend me to private paid hospitals or purchasing a blood pressure monitor as a solution. We are low income with no hope of private health, cost of around 7, 000 per annum. These solutions are unhelpful and quite frankly I am not convinced or even told my procedures could not be done at Caboolture and I feel my problems are ignorantly dismissed.

I live in hope the staff got the referral for 50 percent of the appointment to be done at Redcliffe and that the last person I spoke to hasn't bollixed that up for me. After all I had done for me and what I have done behind the scenes and worked on, the person I spoke with suggested that I come in for my two appointments. Seriously where has your understanding and compassion gone? Still waiting and by golly my my blood pressure is very nearly killing me! Not really very helpful if I will omit 50 percent of the appointment because no-one will help - meaning my health is at risk. Wondering about hospitals competing or not wanting the extra work really or are the administration just severely hopeless. After I spoke to the last person, I phoned the liaison person (Redcliffe) to cry and I told her what you said and I said I don't think she will phone me back because of the disasters previously. This person was supposed to have phoned and hasn't.  🙁

I am actually too scared to phone Redcliffe Hospital as I think this person has probably stopped my appointment and that will kill my blood pressure off completely. I just don't think I can take any more from this person. The solution to not being able to attend RBWH is not, as they keep suggesting, to attend RBWH. There must be someone running the place that can help me, surely? One year plus one month on the phone.
