I was happy that I didn't have to wait too long to go into surgery as I'm a bit nervous about anything medical. The nurses and doctors were very caring and understanding.
I was placed in a room in the maternity part of the hospital (we were in another separate wing away from the new mothers) with another lady and it was quite touching to hear babies crying when we were at the other end of our baby making days.
I had a bad experience with morphine when I came out of surgery as I haven't had any experience with it before. I was throwing up all night and the nurse that night was so caring and made sure I was as comfortable as I could be. She joked that every time she came into the room I threw up. All the nurses were very attentive and cheerful and always there when you needed them.
The food was lovely and the only thing I would say is after a hysterectomy they need to be smaller portions. I wanted to take my lunch home in a doggy bag it was so good.
Overall I count myself lucky to be a public patient in such a lovely hospital.
