Recently my mum had to have surgery. She lives in another state and it was all very last minute so I couldn't be there with her. As she had no other family there I was very nervous (as any daughter would be) and worried about how I was going to know if she was ok etc.
The night before my mum went in for surgery she received a text message letting her know to share the link provided for family to keep updated. What a relief that one little link was! I was able to check in throughout the day and got real time updates as to when she was in surgery, out of surgery, what room she was in and a direct phone number to her room. I felt like I could keep updated without having to interrupt the very busy staff by calling for constant updates.
Well done Healthscope, hopefully hospitals all over Australia adopt a similar system.
"Great form of communication"
