"Expensive parking."

(as a staff member posting for a carer/relative),

My husband lost vision in one eye when he was 2 and lost sight in the other eye when he was 21.

I came to hospital with my husband who was having an operation (vision impaired) and I stayed with him all day. 

The parking is way too expensive.

Thank you for posting this story on behalf of the carer and sharing their concerns. The Metro Cark Park at Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital is a commercial car park, not run by the hospital. Elective surgical patients are sent a discount parking voucher with their admission letter. We apologise that the family member was not aware of the discount.

This has highlighted the need for staff to check with patients and family at the time they arrive for admission, if they need a discounted parking voucher. This will be implemented immediately to avoid others experiencing the distress and frustration the carer was feeling.

This story has been feedback to the staff concerned.

4 months on we are pleased to say as a result of the issues your raised in your story the Nursing Unit Managers have been made aware of the concessional rates available for parking on our campus.
