My child was taken by friends to the hospital in Sale after taking numerous illicit drugs over an eight day period. My child was in a psychotic state and was cared for on the medical ward at the hospital.
The nursing staff there were very caring, and looked after my child with absolute professionalism and kindness and without judgement. My child felt safe and secure. When I arrived, the day after admission, the nursing staff also welcomed me and enabled me to stay in the patient accommodation. I was then free to come and visit my child as much as I could and I thank the staff for looking after my child so well. I would particularly like to thank Terri, the drug and alcohol nurse who really cared for my child and oversaw their return to a settled state. There were also many other nurses there who made my child feel cared for and special. I remember their smiling faces, but not, unfortunately, their names. My child and I are not local to the area, so the support that the hospital staff were able to deliver on so many levels was invaluable to us.
Please pass on my warmest regards all the staff at the Central Gippsland Health Service.
