Arrived in Broome very unwell with a large abscess.
Presented to ED. Everyone from the triage nurse, clerical to other nurses and Drs in ED were fantastic. My pain was dealt with (without me vomiting!), I was given IV ab's. I saw the surgeon in ED. I went back the next morning and was taken straight to theatre from ED. Everyone from the orderly to the anaesthetist were fantastic. The theatre nurse was very caring and efficient, the anaesthetic nurse was reassuring as I went under anaesthetic. The best anaesthetic I've ever had. Woke up quickly with no "hangover" or vomiting. Surgeon did an amazing job. I then spent 3 - 4 days on the general medical / surgical ward. I have only good things to say about the care I received. Everyone was thorough, caring and professional. Everybody was happy and smiling. There was nothing too hard. I never once heard "you're not my patient" or "that's not my job". Great nursing group. I felt privileged to be a patient on this ward. After discharge I was followed up in dressing clinic and once again received the best care possible. Go Broome Hospital!!
On an environmental perspective I think the back automatic doors that go to the kitchen etc, need to be looked at as they bang very loudly as they close. So from a patient perspective you can just be nodding off to sleep and it bangs. Also Room 16 has a clear glass panel into ensuite. So if you are sitting on the toilet, anyone that comes into the room can see you. I put a towel over it but then you can’t close the door. Needs to be frosted. These things are minor as the care was amazing.
I would like to thank everyone in the areas I have mentioned.
