Two weeks post the birth of my first child and I still feel so lucky that I was accepted into the Midwife Group Program (MGP) for care over the course of my pregnancy, birth and now home visits. My midwife, Vanessa, was amazing. It was such a privilege to have her for each of my check ups over the course of my pregnancy; the consistency in care and the trust it allowed me to develop with the one care provider was amazing. As a 30 something professional who had little idea about pregnancy, birth and looking after a baby, The MGP was amazing with helping to fill the gaps, direct me on the journey and show me that giving birth was not a process to be scared of but one to cherish and an empowering experience. Having Vanessa there to birth my baby was amazing. From her welcoming me to the hospital on the day, already knowing and respecting my birth plan and encouraging me all throughout the labour was brilliant. Having her come to my house for home visits allowed me to feel confident asking her the 1001 questions my husband and I had without feeling silly at how simple many of them were.
I am so grateful for the relationship I have been able to develop with Vanessa over the past 7 months and will be forever grateful for the positive birth experience it enabled me to have.
My greatest wish is that everyone gets to experience the care and support that the MGP provides, especially first time mothers. If you have the option of participating, I highly encourage it,
"So grateful for the relationship with Midwife Group Program"
