(as the patient),

I was experiencing a lot of cramping after keyhole surgery. The new graduate on duty although very pleasant, was baffled by this occurrence. In the end, I googled my problem and gained some useful information.

When the night nurse came on she assessed the situation and provided me with wonderful care, including heat packs and warm blankets placed in such a way as to give maximum benefit. She had also been of excellent help the night before when I was just out of theatre.

Two ends of the spectrum - Perhaps there should have been more support for the new graduate. I think the night nurse, certainly should be commended for her competence and empathy.

Thank you for taking the time to share your story on Patient Opinion regarding your recent admission to Cabrini Brighton. Feedback like this is of great importance to us.

We are happy to hear that the night duty nurse provided you with excellent care. We will most certainly pass on your commendation and appreciation.

Our nurse graduates are provided with clinical support and supervision. We will pass on your feedback to the wards as a good example for graduates to learn when to seek assistance or advice. A great learning opportunity for all staff.
