I was visiting a friend at Princess Margaret Hospital oncology, I was waiting at the front, I overheard doctors talking about patients, I heard patients names being referred to and their problems and what the treatment was. I couldn't believe the lack of confidentiality in this place. On another occasion I saw a doctor yell at another doctor, I told my friend and she said this was normal. really? is this acceptable: -(

Your post has been shared with the PMH Director of Medicine, who is highly concerned about the behaviour you’ve reported. The Director of Medicine will discuss this matter with the Oncology Leadership team to ensure an incident like this is not repeated.

Patient confidentiality is of utmost importance and reports of it not occurring are taken extremely seriously. In addition to this, respect is one of our organisation’s core values, which includes our staff respecting one another. I am disappointed to hear that on this occasion, we have not lived up to the high standards we pride ourselves on.
